What can the G20 achieve?
World politicians are gathering in the UK for the G20 summit, which will discuss ways to resolve the worst financial crisis since the 1930s. Will the summit be a success?
The two-day session officially began as leaders attended a reception with the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
Expectations that the summit will come up with a definitive plan to stimulate the world economy are already receding with France and Germany calling for tougher regulation for the world's financial system.
A number of protests are also being staged alongside the summit. Scuffles have broken out between police and protesters with demonstrators still in position in the City.
